Getting Started with Kanmail

This guide takes you from download to a working board in a few minutes.

1. Download and install

Kanmail runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux. Download the latest version from kanmail.io and install it like any desktop app.

Kanmail is free to try for as long as you need. There’s no time limit on evaluation and no subscription, continued use is covered by a one-time licence (see Licensing).

2. Add your first account

On first launch, Kanmail will prompt you to add an email account. The easiest path:

Your mail stays on your device. Kanmail connects directly to your provider with no server in between.

3. Add more accounts (optional)

Repeat step 2 for any other inboxes. Kanmail shows them all on one board, and gives each account its own colour accent so you always know which inbox a message belongs to. You can filter by account using the left sidebar menu.

4. Set up your columns

Columns in Kanmail are your email folders, laid out side by side. Choose which folders appear as columns to build a board that matches how you work. Drag an email from one column to another to move it between folders.

See Boards & Columns for the full workflow, including saving multiple boards.

5. Learn a few shortcuts

Almost everything in Kanmail has a keyboard shortcut: open, archive, move, jump between columns. Check out the shortcuts list.

6. Licensing

Kanmail is a one-time purchase. Buy once and that version is yours, with no subscription and no usage limits. You can evaluate the free version for as long as you like before deciding.
